Curiosity did not kill the cat

How to get a life step 1

For the moment, step 1 is going out more often. My strategy so far: going to the cinema as it's summer and a lot of fun films are released
Last week was 'Men In Black III 3D'. Fun, but Tommy Lee Jones look very much older in it, I do not know if they have aggravated the signs of age in the movie, or in the contrary have stopped using make up and touch up that are usually used on pictures or TV!

Today was 'The Amazing Spiderman 3D' - visually very impressive, 3D worked REALLY well, and the actor is really cute - as in adorable, puppy cute, you can believe he's 17 (even if he's actually one year older than me!). I'd liked ' Spiderman' but I'd say the characters in this year's version are more realistic, and Emma Stone is far less irritating as the love interest than Kirsten Dunst was

Next movie will be 'Ice Age 4'!

Walked over 12 miles to Vatersay and back, but the beaches were worth it! The weather was gorgeous today, it was a nice day to be out and walk.
I have found a house for sale near the causeway with a fantastic view, £179000, no need for repairs...If I could find some work I would buy it.
Kayaking is planned for Thursday morning.

Close up on seals and basking sharks today!

I took a boat trip to the abandoned island of Mingulay today, and saw seals (from much closer than yesterday!) and BASKING SHARKS! (requins pelerins) - the first time was on the way, the second time was near the Mingulay beach where I saw at least 2 of them for over an hour while they were feeding
And I have pictures to prove it!

Kite buggying

Walked 7 miles this morning, saw some seals, then did some kiting and kite buggying. I had never flown a kite before, this is so much fun! The kite buggying is fun as well but quite tiring after a while, I will sleep well tonight...
The sky was cloudy but it seems to have been enough for me to get a sunburn on the face, oops

I SAW AN OTTER!!!

My first day on Barra and I HAVE SEEN AN OTTER, TWICE!!!! Ok, it was for a few seconds every time, but still! I am so happy!!!
And the landing was as nice as promised...

The summer is here...for how long?

First week since the 2nd October that I am able to go out wearing only a short-sleeved T-shirt...It is supposed to last at least until Monday, may I dream that the weather will not turn again before my holidays...?

Our dog has had to be put to sleep today.
Nelka may not have been the brightest of the lot, but she was probably the sweetest and we loved her very much.

Good news all around...

- The crucial audit is finished and the results are good
- I am going to go to the Japanese restaurant with a friend next week
- I have found some good pork meat to cook vietnamese caramel pork at the market and it was really cheap (less than £3 for a 1.2kg joint!)
- I have just realised there is a new Burton/Depp movie opening next week end that promises to be really funny
- I have a nice massage planned this afternoon
- Strawberries season!!! I cannot help eating practically half a kilo of them everyday

I have not posted for some time...But the audits were closing in, and now I have another one planned, so it will be in total 4 audits in 4 weeks! The first two went ok, I have the crucial one on Thursday and Friday, and really cannot wait until evening and week-ends without any work to do at home...

I sew myself an apron this morning - it's nice and long, and with bright white and red stripes ^_^

Frustrations...

My boss has ordered me today to take some time off on Monday because I am dead tired - I will not pretend I am not happy to have time off (even if the half day that I have taken off is enough to promise problems for the rest of the week), but I cannot help thinking that I would prefer that she stops making my life so bloody difficult at work when she knows I have lots of things on my plate rather than getting to this stage of tiredness and stress and then being given time off during the still extremely busy period!

Busy week-end...

I was motivated this week-end to cook and bake!
I made banana cake, pear and chocolate cake, steak and kidney mash pie, and tartiflette...That should last me for the week!

I am more and more wondering if I should not retrain as a book and paper conservator...

How to use leftovers

Tonight's dinner is partridge and lamb liver topped with sweet potato and butternut squash mash, with a little Ossau Iraty cheese on top. Completely random with the bits left in my fridge, but yummy!
